Sociology of Gender Tenure-Track Opening
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology announces a tenure-track opening for a sociologist of gender, beginning in the Fall of 2009. A Ph.D. in sociology is required at the time of appointment. The rank of the position is open. We are especially interested in considering applicants with expertise in quantitative research methods, though scholars relying on qualitative, historical, and other methods will also be considered. We also wish to encourage applicants whose substantive areas encompass fields such as globalization, the intersectionality of gender, class, race, ethnicity or religion, and social inequality. The ability to teach graduate-level feminist methods and/or feminist theory courses would be a plus. The Department is a strong and growing unit with a well-established Ph.D. program, and whose faculty are committed to excellence in research, scholarship, and teaching. Candidate must have experience in, or demonstrated commitment to, diversity in the academic environment.

Urban Sociologist Tenure-Track Opening
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology, a unit of Northeastern’s School of Social Science, Urban Affairs, and Public Policy, announces a tenure-track opening for an urban sociologist, beginning in the Fall of 2009. A PhD in sociology is required at the time of appointment. We prefer candidates at the advanced Assistant Professor rank, although applications will also be considered at the Associate level with tenure. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, and commitment to teaching broad, foundational courses as well as specialty courses is required. We are especially keen to consider applicants with expertise in quantitative research methods; applicants whose knowledge extends to such areas of concentration as race and ethnicity, globalization, or social inequality are also eagerly sought. Candidate must have experience in, or demonstrated commitment to, diversity in the academic environment.
